Home Theater Room

Pictures coming soon!

I was kind of excited when I moved into my new place to set my home theater up in an all new space. My new place posed some new challenges. My new place is a loft, the front wall of the loft is almost all windows and the I have two skylights so I knew that light control was going to be a serious problem. The place is also completely white, so no more cave like black walls. The theater is also doubling as my main living area so I can’t go too overboard with the looks because I still want my place to look nice.

I partially solved the light control problem by installing black out curtains in the windows and in the skylights. I got my blackout curtains at Ikea, they model name is Tupplur, they are nice looking curtains, not super thick and heavy like some blackout curtains. To keep my place from looking like a permanent movie theater I bought myself a Da-Lite Designer Contour Electrol High Power, having a roll up screen goes a long way into making your place not look like a movie theater.

I still have some stuff I want to do, I’d like to get some sort of furniture to go underneath the screen between the speakers. I have a few ideas I just need to do something about it. I’d also like to build some sort of cornice to hide the screen housing and to tie the bookshelves together. I also want to either paint or build some sort of black fabric panels to run between the bookshelves, having nice deep black area behind and around your screen really helps to make the screen pop, it would also help with noise if I were to make something out of fabric. I also have a little bit more cable management to take care.
